    Stuart specialises in clinical negligence, including claims arising from incidents abroad involving complex issues of jurisdiction and choice of law.

    He has over 10 years’ experience advising clients in the health and social care sector. His key clients include NHS Resolution, various NHS Trusts and the leading medical defence organisation in the UK.

    Stuart focuses primarily on public sector clinical negligence claims on behalf of the NHS, including complex and high value birth injury, spinal and fatal claims. He also acts on behalf of private practitioners for the leading medical defence organisation in the UK as well as a number of insurers on a wide variety of clinical negligence claims across all areas of medical and dental practice.

    Relevant experience includes:

    • Acting for the Defendants in Pomphrey v. Secretary of State for Health and North Bristol NHS Trust [2019] 4 WLUK 483, which addressed important issues of causation and scope of duty.
    • Acting for the NHS in a complex birth injury case that was resolved for more than £20 million.
    • Acting for a privately insured surgeon in a claim brought by a professional footballer.
    • Managing a number of claims brought against GPs, predominantly relating to alleged delays in diagnosing cancer.

    Stuart has been published in the Journal of Personal Injury Law.
