Anthony Perotto, lead partner and one of the highest ranked Italian insurance lawyers in Chambers Europe, joins DACB together with specialist insurance partners Guido Foglia and Michele Zucca. The three partners and a team of five associates are joining from NCTM's Insurance and Reinsurance Practice. DACB’s new Italian offices are based in Milan and Rome and are fully operative as of 1 February 2023.
Anthony, Guido and Michele have extensive experience in advising and assisting insurers on complex coverage and liability litigation and arbitration, coverage advice, and claims handling. They also regularly assist insurance industry players on a broad range of non-contentious matters, including advisory and regulatory work, compliance, development and creation of policy wordings, distribution and intermediation, corporate and transactional matters. The team has been consistently top ranked in Insurance by Chambers and Partners for the last nine years.
With new offices in the heart of the two main Italian cities, DACB is one of the first international insurance law firms to establish a permanent presence in Italy. This latest step in the firm’s international expansion makes it one of the strongest sources of insurance knowledge across Europe and follows significant recent growth across both Europe and Asia-Pacific.
DAC Beachcroft’s Managing Partner, David Pollitt, said, “Italy is absolutely key to our insurer clients, but for us as a business, it is so much more. Whilst we are seizing the opportunity to expand and diversify our existing offering to our main insurance clients in Europe, we are also adding new advisory and corporate regulatory capabilities in a key European jurisdiction. This complements our existing European offices and supports our goal of being a one-stop shop for our clients.”
Gustavo Blanco, DAC Beachcroft’s Head of International Business, said, “We are delighted to welcome Anthony, Guido and Michele to DACB and excited to be blazing a trail into Italy. We strive to be the international insurance law firm of choice for the global insurance industry. To deliver on this, we need to have a presence in all the key insurance markets in which our clients choose to operate. With Anthony, Guido and Michele on board, we now boast a presence across five key EU markets for the insurance sector.”
Anthony Perotto added, “Guido, Michele and I have worked closely with a number of highly experienced lawyers at DACB and we have the greatest respect for them and for the excellent service they provide to their clients in the global insurance market. We are confident that by joining forces with DACB, we will be even better able to meet the increasingly complex and international needs of our clients.”
DACB has ramped up its international expansion plans in recent months. In summer 2022, the firm signed a cooperation agreement to expand its relationship with existing Legalign Global partner BLD Bach Langheid Dallmayr, the market-leading insurance and liability law firm in Germany. This move gave the two firms more lawyers in Europe than any other insurance-focused law firm.
“Europe is a key area of focus for us,” said Helen Faulkner, Head of Insurance at DACB. “Insurers and their policyholders are demanding more and more support to manage their international risks. With our existing offices in the UK, Ireland, Spain and France, and our recent expansion into Germany and now Italy, we can better meet these demands for European support.”
Beyond Europe, in Asia-Pacific DACB recently trebled the number of partners it has in Singapore, hiring Summer Montague from RPC and Andrew Robinson from DLA Piper. With Summer and Andrew on board, DACB is even better placed to support its clients in the region.
DAC Beachcroft has one of the largest insurance practices of any law firm in the UK, operating from eleven UK locations, as well as internationally from offices in Ireland, Spain, France, the United States, Singapore, Mexico, Colombia, Chile, and, together with BLD, Germany. It is also a founding member of Legalign Global, the alliance of best-in-region law firms working as one for multinational insurers, brokers and businesses in addressing cross-border risks and claims.
