    Kathryn is a Senior Associate in our London office.  Her practice includes both policy coverage and defence matters as well as subrogated recoveries.

    She has over 10 years’ experience advising leading UK and international insurance companies, as well as Lloyd’s syndicates on matters arising in both the UK and overseas, and in particular, Latin America and the Caribbean, where she lived and worked for a number of years.

    Kathryn has handled a broad range of matters, including property and construction, aviation, fine art and species, film and theatre production, product liability and fraud and has acted for clients in mediations, arbitrations and litigation proceedings.

    Kathryn has worked on a number of reported cases for insurers and individuals including:

    • Abraham v Leigh No. 1:17 Civ. 5429 (KPF) [2020] (Southern District of New York Court);
    • Atlantica Holdings & Anor v Sovereign Wealth Sumruk-Kazyna JSC, BTA Bank (Defendants) and Pavel Prosyankin and John Howell (Third Parties) [2019];
    • Midnight Marine v Thomas Miller Speciality Underwriting Agency Ltd [2018];

    Other examples of Kathryn’s work include:

    • Securing a seven-figure pre-trial settlement for insurers and their insureds in a claim against a leading security alarm provider for losses caused when its alarm system failed to activate.
    • Acting for insurers following a drone crash during test flights for the Spanish military.
    • Defending insurers of an airline in arbitration proceedings in London following a mid-air catastrophic collision over the Amazon, Brazil’s second worst plane disaster.

    Kathryn is committed to assisting others through pro-bono work, and her recent efforts include representing two victims of financial domestic abuse in civil claims against their former partners, assisting the Law Society’s International Action Team and case reviews for the California Innocence Project.

    Kathryn qualified in 2010 and joined DAC Beachcroft in 2021.  She works in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
