Julian is a Partner in our London Tax team and the firm's Head of Tax. He has particular expertise in corporate M&A and real estate tax, including complex restructurings, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and tax disputes. Julian also advises insurers on their W&I insurance policies and tax-related claims.

Julian has a first in law from Monash University, Australia. He joined DAC Beachcroft in April 2024 from another international law firm where he was a Director in the London tax group, advising multinationals on a wide range of UK and international tax matters, spanning sectors including insurance, real estate, infrastructure, energy and TMT. He has commented regularly on tax topics, including in the Financial Times, The Tax Journal and the British Tax Review.

His recent experience includes advising:

• an AIM-quoted UK Plc on its acquisition by a private equity firm;
• various vendors and purchasers in respect of UK M&A transactions;
• multinationals on tax structuring and business reorganisations;
• UK and international clients on share and option incentive schemes;
• real estate clients on major property developments and investments;
• insurers on W&I insurance policies and claims defences;
• various UK businesses on employment tax and settlement issues; and
• complex advisory, HMRC enquiry and tax controversy matters.
