Phillip Roberts heads the specialist Construction Professionals team in our Bristol office. He is a solicitor and also a former chartered civil engineer.

He and his team specialise in handling claims against construction professionals and design and build contractors. He has worked on the resolution of various construction disputes, through the pre-action protocol, adjudication and litigation, and is greatly assisted in this role by his engineering experience.

Phillip's experience includes: defending a structural engineer against a claim arising from a failure of a building, successfully defending an insured consulting engineers and its insurers from a claim relating to alleged ground contamination, and defending through to settlement a complex cost over-run claim against a firm of project managers.

Phillip has been responsible for a number of reported matters, such as successfully defending an architect against a claim for alleged negligent design of a fire compartment wall in the matter of Bellefield Computers v Turner & Sons [2002] EWCA CIV1823, and successfully defending a structural engineer in a case arising out of an adjudication - Galliford Construction Ltd v Michael Heal Associates [2002] EWHC2886(TCC).
