International law firm DAC Beachcroft is pleased to announce that it has appointed one of Chile’s most respected insurance professionals, Macarena Cámbara, as a partner in its Global Insurance practice in Santiago.

Macarena joins DACB from Zurich Chile, where she had been Head of Casualty and Financial Lines since 2017, with responsibility for developing the insurer’s casualty and specialty lines, designing new products, underwriting relevant books of business and assisting in handling complex and high value claims.  Prior to Zurich Chile, Macarena worked for specialist reinsurance broker, THB Re, placing international programs with large insureds, and for global broker and risk advisor, Marsh, where she spent nine years managing its casualty, financial and surety lines in Chile

At DACB Chile, Macarena will work alongside DACB’s Regional Head of LatAm, Andrés Amunátegui, and corporate partner Guillermo Amunátegui, to develop  further DACB Chile’s offering to its domestic and international insurance clients, liaising closely with DACB’s Global Insurance teams in London, Madrid and across Latin America

“We have ambitious growth plans for our insurance business in Chile and across the wider LatAm region and, with her extensive casualty experience and impressive insurance and reinsurance connections, Macarena will play a leading role in helping us to achieve these ambitions,“ commented Andrés Amunátegui

Gustavo Blanco, DACB’s Head of International Business, added, “Our LatAm network is a key part of our international insurance practice, with our teams in Chile, Colombia and Mexico working closely with colleagues in our European and Asia-Pac offices to deliver the best possible risk and claims services, and global reach, for our international clients.”

Macarena Cámbara is the latest partner to join DACB’s Global Insurance practice and follows the arrival of Alexandre Gadot as a partner in the firm’s Paris office in November 2021, and three new international partner appointments in 2020, with Mercedes Romero joining DACB in Madrid, Miguel de la Fuente being appointed in Mexico City and Ana Catalina Restrepo joining in Bogota.

In addition to appointing new Global Insurance partners and maintaining a commercial hub in Miami, DACB continues to strengthen its presence in the LatAm region through associations in Brazil, Argentina and Peru, as well as active interaction with best-friend law firms in an additional 11 jurisdictions across LatAm.
