Tom is a commercial litigator with particular experience of helping clients in the financial services sector resolve disputes.

During over a decade with DAC Beachcroft, he has advised clients on how to resolve complex disputes through litigation, mediation and via ombudsman schemes. Tom also has experience of injunctions including search orders and injunctions dealing with the misuse of confidential information and data loss.

Whilst Tom typically acts on complex litigated disputes, he also has significant experience of assisting in-house legal teams with managing their caseload of lower value disputes and complaints (often requiring pragmatic and efficient solutions), including through offering bespoke outsourced solutions to address specific requirements.

Tom is also instructed by insurers to defend insured professionals (including financial advisors, accountants, mortgage brokers and tax advisors) facing negligence claims. He also advises clients  on regulatory investigations and enforcement action.

Tom's relevant experience includes:

• Acting for multiple defendants in a litigated, multi-party, cross-border shareholder dispute, involving alleged fraudulent conduct;
• Assisting a client in in a dispute with a competitor, including advising on an injunction for search and seizure / delivery up of specific materials and the subsequent claim;
• Advising the in-house legal team of a private medical insurance company on a wide range of commercial disputes;
• Defending a firm of tax advisers and their professional indemnity insurers against a claim by a former client in relation to allegedly defective tax advice provided in the context of a multi-million pound transaction.
