DACB is sponsoring one of the 45 super-sized sculptures inspired by Shaun the Sheep that are taking over Newcastle city centre during July, August and September 2023. Each sculpture has been designed by talented artists from across the UK.
DACB's sheep, known as "Shaun of the Dead", features a Mexican Day of the Dead-inspired design and was chosen as a nod to the firm's international reach, which extends across Europe, Asia-Pacific, North America and Latin America, including Mexico. It has been placed outside DACB's offices at Bank House on Pilgrim Street.
Commenting on the initiative, Nicky Fairbairn, DACB's Newcastle Location Head, said, "We would have felt very sheepish to miss out on the opportunity to be a part of this truly ewe-nique art trail happening on our doorstep. We have a long and proud history of supporting and engaging with our local communities in Newcastle, and we are very pleased to be supporting St Oswald's Hospice, while also promoting a more vibrant and sustainable city through art, in this latest initiative."
Neil Warwick, partner who led on DACB's involvement in this exciting project, added, "We are immensely pleased to be part of a project that not only encourages the community to appreciate the sculptures created for the Shaun on the Tyne Art Trail but also contributes to St. Oswald's Hospice's life-changing services.
"We look forward to helping welcome local residents and visitors flocking to Newcastle this summer to follow the herd, and we hope everyone enjoys this baa-rilliant art trail."
Alongside supporting the Shaun the Sheep on the Tyne Art Trail, DACB has been supporting community initiatives across the North East since opening its office in Newcastle in 2008. The firm actively supports its local community through volunteer and pro bono work for organisations including Bridgewater School, People’s Kitchen, Northumbria Health Trust, Gregg’s Breakfast Club, Change Please, and Radical Recruit.
