Overview

International law firm DAC Beachcroft has appointed Udara Ranasinghe as the new Location Head for its London headquarters.  Udara takes over from Matthew Darling, and will serve a three-year term beginning from 1 May 2022.

Udara is a partner in the firm’s Employment, Pensions and Immigration practice and specialises in healthcare-focused employment law.  He has also previously served on DAC Beachcroft’s LLP Group Board

DACB’s headquarters are in the Walbrook Building, London, EC4N, and it is the home office for 450 colleagues.

Commenting on his new role, Udara said, “I am delighted to be taking up the reins as Location Head in London.  As the global centre of DACB, the Walbrook must be a thriving office where we can collaborate for the benefit of our clients, have fun and socialise with our colleagues, and make a meaningful difference to our community.  My focus will be on building on the sterling work Matthew has done and continuing to position us as leaders on the myriad issues we have sought to tackle, from flexible working post-pandemic, to bringing into the legal profession those who might not otherwise have the opportunity, and many more.

“I want to thank my partners and fellow colleagues for their support, and I look forward to leading our team from strength to strength over the next three years

DACB’s Senior Partner Virginia Clegg added, “Congratulations to Udara on his appointment as London Location Head.  I look forward to working with him and our London colleagues to continue pushing forward with firm’s overall strategy.

“I would also like to thank Matthew for his leadership in London during the critical move to The Walbrook in 2018, for the location’s success and growing reputation as our global headquarters, and for steering the way for our London colleagues during the pressures of the pandemic.”
