    Annabel specialises in resolving complex and high value injury claims arising out of motor accidents, on behalf of insurers and their insureds.

    She has over 15 years’ experience in advising clients in the insurance sector.

    Annabel works with insurers to identify proactive strategies to claims, to achieve solutions-driven outcomes. She regularly advises on multi-party claims, as well as complex quantum issues.

    Annabel is the lead in the specialist field of Motor Indemnity and has substantial experience in defending claims involving policy coverage and insurance liability issues. She has in-depth knowledge of the Road Traffic Act 1988 and the Motor Insurers' Bureau Agreements and how their provisions can be utilised to achieve the best possible outcome for clients. She regularly advises on the interplay between motor, employers’ liability and public liability policies. Annabel is the internal referral point across the firm for matters involving insurance liability issues and provides strategic input to the Complex Injury, Fraud and Vehicle Hire and Damage teams.  

    Relevant experience includes:

    • Successfully dealing with a quantum-disputed claim involving an indicated traumatic brain injury, pleaded in excess of £150,000. We had made an early, realistic Part 36 offer shortly after litigation commenced. This was subsequently accepted by the Claimant within weeks of the Trial, two years later, resulting in a substantial costs recovery for the insurer client of £50,000.
    • Negotiating a favourable insurance liability agreement in a claim pleaded in excess of £1 million, in which the Policyholder held seven different policies with four separate insurers and involved several sets of s152 Declaration proceedings, leading to substantial savings for the insurer client.
    • Securing a very beneficial outcome on a case involving issues of road racing between two young drivers, after successfully maintaining that the insurer client held Article 75 status.  

    Annabel regularly provides bespoke training to insurers on coverage and insurance liability issues. She also produces articles and alerts, addressing notable developments in these area.
