Emma-Jane specialises in all aspects of charity law and governance and has been advising charities and other not for profit organisations for over 15 years. Emma-Jane has particular experience in advising charities and not for profit organisations in the health and social care and education sectors.
Emma-Jane’s work includes advising on mergers, acquisitions and disposals (as well as other forms of collaboration), constitutional review and change, banking and grant funding, permanent endowment (and other issues related to restricted funds), non-charitable trading and the use of and relationship with wholly owned subsidiaries and other forms of commercial entity, international franchise, serious incident reporting to the Charity Commission as well as issues relating to governance and charity regulation.
Emma-Jane works closely with specialists across the firm on all areas where charity regulation has an impact, including issues related to property, an interface with other regulators (including the CQC, Ofsted, ISI, OfS and ICO) and employment.
Emma-Jane regularly gives training to charities, particularly to trustees on their duties and responsibilities as well as governance issues more generally. She regularly drafts articles and speaks at sector events.
Emma-Jane is appointed to the Charity Commission’s panel of interim managers and is a member of the Charity Law Association.
