Biography
Fiona advises on a range of regulatory matters including corporate manslaughter, health and safety, environmental law, trading standards, product liability and recall. She has developed health and safety policies for corporate clients, provided strategic advice on regulatory risks and advised on due diligence during corporate transactions.
Fiona has over 25 years’ experience advising clients across a range of sectors including construction, engineering, real estate, manufacturing and health. Her key clients include insurers, developers, construction companies, health care providers and other organisations in the public and private sector. Fiona has conducted internal investigations where misconduct or other issues have been raised. She provides training in relation to directors' duties, managing incidents and also advice on compliance issues.
Fiona also provides representation to clients in relation to inquests including those under Article 2 of the Human Rights Act. Alongside her team, she is currently involved in a number of high profile health and safety cases following work related deaths and deaths in care.
Relevant experience includes:
- Advising Rydon Maintenance Limited in relation to the Grenfell Tower Inquiry and related investigations.
- Represented Priory Healthcare Limited in a prosecution by the Health and Safety Executive following the death of a young person. The court accepted that the death was not caused by Priory Healthcare Ltd’s breach of section 3 of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974.
- Advising clients on a range of issues during the current Covid-19 pandemic including risk management, internal investigations, responding to investigations and enforcement action by the Health and Safety Executive and local authorities.
