Karen is an Associate in the Health, Care and Public Law Team; her experience includes representing clients facing investigations and prosecutions brought by Regulatory Authorities including the Health and Safety Executive, the Environment Agency, HMRC, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and Trading Standards.
Karen provides representation and advice to organisations and individuals during interviews under caution and has experience in conducting cases in both the Magistrates and Crown Courts. Karen regularly appears before the Coroner’s Court.
Karen also advises and represents clients in the health and social care sector who are subject to civil and criminal enforcement action brought by the CQC. This includes providing advice and assistance in relation to appealing enforcement notices or representing clients before the Care Standards Tribunal.
Karen has previous experience in representing the regulator before the Care Standards Tribunal and has also prosecuted on behalf of regulators in circumstances where criminal enforcement action has been taken against providers of health and social care.
Karen has drafted organisational policies on behalf of clients and provided non contentious advice in relation to regulation compliance.
Karen has been responsible for providing training to organisations on various subject areas including post incident response and interviews under caution.
