Biography
Rowena is a litigation specialist with considerable experience in dealing with a broad range of complex disputes. She routinely attends before the Commercial Court and High Court and has previously advised clients attending before the Joint Committee of Inquiry into the Banking Crisis in Ireland (the Banking Inquiry) and the Financial Services Ombudsman. Rowena is an advocate of mediation and regularly advises clients through arbitration and other forms of dispute resolution.
Rowena's experience includes advising professionals, corporates, financial institutions, technology, and media clients. Rowena has a particular interest in cyber risk and data breach incidents and also advises clients on non-contentious data protection and privacy issues including in relation to the GDPR.
Rowena is a committee member of the Dublin Solicitors Bar Association Litigation Committee and a former legal advisor to the Faculty of Health Sciences Research Ethics Committee, Trinity College Dublin.
Recent experience includes providing strategic advice:
- to a number of professionals in respect of professional negligence claims;
- on a wide variety of contractual and financial disputes before the Commercial Court;
- to a number of high profile clients in relation to substantial defamation and breach of privacy claims;
- to a health facility in respect of a data breach of highly confidential sensitive information;
- to a number of businesses in respect of Data Access Requests;
- on brand protection, passing off, copyright and trademark infringement; and
- in respect of the General Data Protection Regulation including audits, reviewing and amending policies and consents, data sharing and training programs.
