Lyn specialises in construction and engineering insurance.

She has over 20 years’ experience advising clients across a range of sectors including CAR claims, construction and engineering projects and professional indemnity claims for those in the construction industry. Her key clients include QBE insurance and HSB Engineering.

Lyn has considerable experience of dispute resolution across the construction, engineering and energy sectors. Her practise includes CAR/EAR policy advice and claims, defendant construction professional indemnity claims, property/construction policy advice and subrogated recoveries.  

She has particular expertise in advising major insurance clients on CAR/EAR and liability claims arising on construction and engineering projects, covering the DE/LEG clauses and joint insurance issues. She speaks fluent German and good French, and has handled numerous claims in foreign jurisdictions. After 2 years away from the firm living in Switzerland, she joined DAC Beachcroft Manchester in 2017.

Relevant experience includes advising:

• The London market insurers following the collapse of a hydropower tunnel, concluding in settlement shortly after a 2 day mediation.
• Insurers of an Annual CAR policy following fracture of a sludge transfer pipe at a sewage treatment works. Consideration of damage, defect and LEG clauses, plus interplay with project policy.
• Various insurers on subrogated recoveries following major escapes of water during construction projects, leading to £2 million+ worth of damage.
• On policy coverage for theft of plant and suspected fraudulent claims.
• On policy coverage for potential damage due to party wall works and basement conversions in high net worth properties.
• Professional indemnity insurers of construction professionals, including claims against structural engineers, architects and quantity surveyors.
• Insurers of a bank which suffered the theft of £50 million of diamonds from a bank vault in Antwerp, and fraudulent transactions by a Swiss private banker.
