  • Biography

    Toby specialises in marine and energy insurance work within the firm's London office. He advises on direct and reinsurance claims and coverage disputes, usually with an international element, including extensive experience in Brazil. 

    He handles all forms of marine claims, including marine liability, in relation to loss of or damage to cargo at sea or carried by road, rail or air. Toby has considerable experience of first party cargo claims, including project cargo and related DSU claims, as well as hull and machinery insurance and ports and terminal losses.

    Toby's practice also focuses on claims, coverage disputes and recovery actions relating to offshore energy construction and operating risks, renewables, energy liability exposures and mining risks, including advising on global insurance programmes in these areas. In relation to both marine and energy insurance, Toby also advises on related cyber risks.

    Toby is the firm's Climate Change Lead, and advises insurers and their customers on the evolving risks around climate change and ESG.
