Biography
Paul has over 30 years' experience advising insurers and large corporate clients on high value and catastrophic injury claims, EL/PL and motor claims. He spent almost two decades working with Aviva, including being part of their major bodily injury unit and as an in house solicitor, before working in private practice.
He is often instructed on first notification of the claim and has a track record of early investigation and resolving them without proceedings ever being raised.
Paul specialises in injuries of maximum severity, including spinal injuries, amputations and brain injuries. He also has a reputation for dealing with causation issues and high financial losses.
Featured Experience:
- Handling a personal injury claim involving a serious brain injury to a teenage passenger who had severe cognitive impairment. A collaborative approach was adopted throughout with regular meetings with his case manager and legal advisers. The claim was settled on a lump sum basis for a significant sum.
- The reported case of Laws v Williams and Another (2018) EWHC1871 (QB) which advised that the defendant was not liable for stopping at the bottom of a slip road as it was unsafe to enter the main carriageway. The case also deals with QOCS.
- The reported case of Pursoty v Vaghani and others (2013 All ER D214). This dealt with the liability for a pedestrian stepping from between two stationary HGV's in front of slow moving traffic which could not avoid her.
