Secretarial and Administrative

You’ll be vital to the smooth-running of your department, helping to ensure our lawyers can focus on delivering an exceptional service to our clients.

This team provides high quality secretarial support to a diverse group of UK-wide lawyers from our Real Estate, Health, Insurance, Business Advisory, Employment and Pensions practices. Join us and you’ll provide a friendly, efficient and client-led service, drawing on your flexible, can-do approach. You’ll be happy to work autonomously but you’ll be just as comfortable working as part of a team. Progression in to management roles, such as Secretarial Team Leader, is possible and we offer a structured training programme designed to help you do just that. The scale and scope of our firm means you’ll, at some stage, have the opportunity to change the type of work you do and develop new skills by joining a different team and supporting our lawyers with differing demands.

Business Improvement and Change

As a specialist project manager or business analyst, you’ll be responsible for managing and delivering firm-wide business improvement and change initiatives.

We’re focused on enterprise change and transformation along with effective project delivery across the firm. This is a very forward-thinking business and a big focus for BIC is reshaping and delivering our services even more efficiently and effectively. The majority of our roles here are in Project Management and Business Analysis – all of them are focused on maintaining our operational excellence. This is an opportunity to help bring creative ideas to fruition, to evaluate and prioritise investment, and to embed robust protocols around project creation and delivery.

Clients and Markets

Based in Bristol and Newcastle and with a strong London presence, we are responsible for selling the firm’s services by driving the growth and retention of our client base, and the nurture and development of our client relationships.

Whether it’s helping to deliver successful bids, leading client listening programmes, industry research, or growing the reputation of our firm and fee earners through events, marketing, legal directories and media relations, we make sure our client facing colleagues have the support, tools and best practice advice they need to successfully and profitably engage with clients and prospects.

We’re also responsible for building and promoting a strong brand that’s aligned to our business strategy and differentiates our firm in the market. We also maximise new business opportunities through our DACB international offices and our Legalign alliance.

HR

You’ll support the delivery of our People Strategy as well as providing expert advice on everything from recruitment through to training and development.

We’re passionate about creating a supportive environment in which to help everyone reach their full potential. We attract new talent and develop, support and reward our colleagues at every level, in every team. Our HR Business Partners have an in-depth understanding of the firm’s strategy and are able to tap into experienced specialists in Learning and Development, Recruitment, HR Services, Reward, Employee Relations and Payroll. This enables us to provide the business and all our employees with the right support at the right time.

Finance and Operations

We provide essential finance-led services – you could join us in anything from Operations or Revenue through to Group Reporting or Credit Control.

We also manage the end-to-end business process for bills, payments, receipts and client monies. We’re home to specialists in a number of areas – you could join us in a wide variety of roles including Credit Control, Revenue, Business Partnering, Group Reporting and Financial Control, Tax, Treasury and Reserves, International Accounting and Financial Compliance. Our operations teams include specialists in Procurement and Estate & Facilities Management. For some roles, you’ll need relevant experience but in other teams, you could come from a different background giving you a great opportunity to break into finance.

IT

You’ll help to deliver a simpler, more agile and more progressive IT environment, empowering people across the firm to be as efficient and effective as possible.

From concept to implementation, our IT team delivers and supports the cost-effective, reliable systems that enable colleagues here to provide a first-class service to our clients. The team has expertise in everything from cyber security, IT training and data insight through to IT service desk, application support, MI, development, infrastructure, QA and much more. It enables us to embrace the latest technologies and innovations – vital in a fast-moving business that has ever-changing requirements. With over 100 people, we’re a large team full of opportunities. We’re also very big on developing our teams and always aim to promote people from within.

Practice Governance and Risk

Made up of lawyers and other specialists, this team ensures we meet our regulatory obligations and optimise new opportunities as our business grows and expands internationally.

We support the business and advise on a wide range of issues across the whole firm. Areas of expertise include compliance, risk, regulatory, quality and audit, oversight of our insurance portfolio, claims and complaints, business protection (including cyber and business continuity), information security and data protection, knowledge management and corporate governance. Our team consists of lawyers and other specialists and they’re often called upon to provide a fast, commercial and pragmatic response to issues. This is a rapidly expanding team dealing with a very diverse range of specialisms. This means that you’ll have scope to turn your hand to a wide variety of work and the chance to develop more specialist skills.
