    Anthony is a partner in the Insurance group and is Head of the firm's Marine & Transport and Onshore and Offshore Energy service lines. 

    He advises on direct and reinsurance claims and coverage disputes, usually with an international element, particularly involving insureds, insurers or reinsurers in the London and Continental European markets. He is particularly well known for managing claims in Latin America and the Caribbean, and has previously practised in the Cayman Islands.

    Anthony has advised numerous participants in the international insurance and reinsurance markets on disputes involving marine and energy policies, including political risk written in the marine market, and the insurance of engineering projects. He has considerable experience of marine and project cargo and related DSU claims, as well as CAR/EAR losses both in the energy sector and more widely.

    In addition, Anthony has acted in some of the highest profile insurance and reinsurance disputes in recent years, both through litigation and arbitration, including Limit v Axa [2007] EWHC 2321 (energy construction reinsurance), Mopani Copper Mines v Millennium [2008] EWHC 1331 (onshore EAR, direct insurance) and BAIC v Matelec [2013] EWHC 3278 (Comm) (project cargo) as well as various offshore energy claims, including both pipeline and FPSO losses. He also advises on operating policy claims, including both PD and BI elements. Anthony also acted for the successful party in Enemalta Plc v. The Standard Club Asia Ltd [2021] EWHC 1215 (Concerning P&I Club Letters of Undertaking and the Convention on Limitation of Liability for Maritime Claims).

    Anthony is a regular speaker at international insurance and reinsurance conferences, particularly in the marine, energy and engineering markets, including the C5 International Offshore Energy Conference and the London Engineering Group annual conferences. He is a co-author of the reinsurance volume to Appleman on Insurance Law, one of the leading insurance law texts for US practitioners, and is also a recommended practitioner in the UK directories, noted for work of a "particularly high standard" Legal 500) and described by clients as "loyal, controlled and considered", with a "superb commercial acumen" Chambers Directory) and "an extremely capable lawyer with great leadership skills" Chambers Latin America).

    Also, Anthony is the current holder of the insurance and reinsurance Client Choice Award conferred by the International Law Office, following a survey of a pool of over 2,000 client references. He was the winner of the same award in 2013. The award recognised excellence in every category of client service, including quality of legal advice, value for money and commercial awareness.

    Anthony speaks Spanish fluently and has a working command of Portuguese.
