As part of our professional and commercial risks team Katy specialises in advising on claims against professionals.

She has over 10 years’ experience dealing with claims against a wide variety of professionals, with a particular focus on solicitors, barristers and other legal professionals.

Katy spent six months on secondment within a claims team at an international insurer based in London, giving her valuable insight into the needs of her clients.

Relevant experience includes:

• acting for a firm of solicitors in a claim brought by a peer-to-peer lender involving allegations that the solicitors had negligently failed to advise that changes to the structure of a deal to acquire development land would impede the value of the lender’s security;
• defending a barrister in connection with a claim relating to alleged advice in underlying litigation brought following a fatal accident at work;
• acting for a marine surveyor in a claim alleging the failure to report on numerous defects in a pre-purchase survey of a superyacht.
