Helen is the National Head of Vehicle Hire & Damage which includes Vehicle Hire Fraud.
She has over 16 years’ experience handling complex and strategic credit hire claims including suspected fraudulent credit hire claims. She is also the Client Relationship Partner for Somerset Bridge Insurance Company Limited.
Helen is widely known for her experience in this specialist area. She works closely with her team and clients to ensure that they are aware of and are adopting all the latest credit hire legal strategies to secure the most favourable case outcomes, reducing leakage and changing market behaviour.
She remains at the forefront of credit hire and fraud market developments and regularly presents at industry events and has written many articles and thought leadership pieces including three credit hire fraud reports which have become a handbook for many insurers when developing their credit hire fraud strategies. She has also appeared on BBC 1’s Claimed and Shamed in which she talked about a fraudulent credit hire claim where DAC Beachcroft secured custodial prison sentences against the perpetrators.
As a Birmingham based Partner, Helen leads the Birmingham wellbeing committee organising numerous events for her location including the annual family wellbeing walk.
In 2022 Helen qualified as a personal and business coach and now coaches colleagues internally in additional to external clients.
Relevant experience includes:
- Personally handling a large credit hire organised fraud operation for an insurer client, resulting in savings of £500,000.
- Achieving savings of over £175,000 defeating seven claims arising from a minor road traffic accident with a fictitious policyholder. The use of engineering evidence was pivotal as it evidenced that the accident had not occurred as alleged and arguments were run in relation to deliberate damage to the vehicle whilst in the possession of the hire company to prolong hire and inflate the claim. Ultimately five claims were struck out and two discontinued following a three day trial.
