Yuling specialises in advising insurers and corporate insureds in respect of various types of property damage claims such as fire, escape of water and utility claims.  She has extensive experience of both defending liability claims and pursuing subrogated recoveries on behalf of insurers. She also specialises in providing policy coverage advice.  Her key clients include AXA and RSA.

She has over 13 years’ experience advising clients across a range of sectors including insurance, manufacturing, construction and utilities.  Yuling joined DACB in January 2022 and as such the experience highlighted below was obtained whilst at a previous firm, but has been of direct application in her current role.

Yuling prides herself on giving timely and accurate advice and is keen to develop strong relationships with her clients and other professionals.

    Relevant experience includes defending:

    • A white goods manufacturer following a fire in a dehumidifier whilst simultaneously putting the Chinese manufacturer on notice of our intention to pursue a recovery of the damages paid together with costs. Despite the difficulties in dealing with an insurer and their claims handlers in a different jurisdiction, Yuling was able to obtain a recovery of 75% of the claimant’s damages and costs and 50% of our client’s defence costs.
    • A highway authority in relation to a claim by a utility company following damage to its high voltage cable. We attempted to get our client’s subcontractor to take over conduct of the claim, but there was a factual dispute as to whether the subcontractor was working under the direct instruction of our employee, which if they were, would mean that no contribution was possible.  In the end, Yuling was able to secure a 26% contribution to the claim presented and was able to raise various quantum arguments leading to the acceptance of her opening offer.
