Throughout the complete cycle of residential development we’re known for our results-based, strategic approach, as well as our cost-effective solutions. Our ability to handle the most complex of land assembly requirements, frequently requiring joint ventures and partnership agreements, is widely recognised as amongst of the best in the sector.

Our work spans drafting and negotiating complex strategic land agreements (including conditional purchase agreements, options and collaboration agreements for residential and mixed use); negotiating planning permissions and planning agreements; corporate and tax advice (including dealing with joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, setting up LLP and other special purpose vehicles); planning and environmental matters (including dealing with the development of brownfield sites, contaminated land and environmental impact assessments); sustainability and energy supply (including advising on decentralised energy and sustainability requirements, with a particular focus on Energy Services Company (ESCo) structures); public/private partner sectoring agreements (including affordable housing issues and working on schemes in collaboration with the Homes and Community Agency); and residential conveyancing.

Featured experience

  • Advising Vistry Partnerships in a joint venture with Torus Developments on the purchase of the Peel Hall site in Warrington. At 17 acres and with provision for 1,200 homes, this £112m deal is the largest land transaction to date in the North of England.
  • Advising Crest Nicholson on the Malabar Farm scheme in Northants. This 50 hectare, 1,100 home site won “Deal of the Year” at the Business Insider Midlands Residential Awards 2022.
  • Advising on a significant transaction for Countryside Properties at Clapham Park, London in a joint venture with Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing. This will create 2,842 homes, stretching across Clapham, Brixton and Streatham. We dealt with the development agreement as well as structuring the property aspects of the deal, PRS underleases, plot leases and affordable housing documentation.
  • Advising a large housebuilder on all areas of land control, planning and delivery at the award winning Tadpole Garden Village in Swindon.
  • Advising on the sale of 223 BTR homes at a luxury canal-side development in Birmingham.
