Overview

International law firm DAC Beachcroft is pleased to announce that a deal worked on by its Real Estate team has been named ‘Deal of the Year’ at Insider’s Midlands Residential Property Awards.

DACB advised long-standing client Crest Nicholson on a deal that will see up to 1,100 homes, a primary school, a community centre and more built on a greenfield site, known as Malabar Farm, near Daventry, Northamptonshire.  The firm advised Crest Nicholson on its purchase of the 50-hectare site in partnership with Spitfire Homes and on its collaboration with Spitfire, which will govern how the site is developed

DACB partner and Head of Residential Gemma Leonard led on the deal, with support from senior associate Shahnaz Sharif and associate Tania Afrin.  Partner Andrew Morgan advised on the planning aspects

Gemma said, “We are very pleased to see this deal recognised.  It’s one of the largest site acquisitions we have seen in recent months, and we are proud to have helped Crest Nicholson get the deal over the line.  This will be a significant development in the Midlands, which will provide much-needed new and affordable housing in the area, as well as a sustainable community with public open spaces and new infrastructure.”

DACB’s 40-strong Residential team works across its Bristol, Glasgow, Leeds, London, Manchester and Newcastle locations.  The practice provides a comprehensive range of legal advice across the residential development cycle, including strategic land acquisition and plot sales.

The Residential team is part of a wider 170-strong Real Estate practice at DACB, which is also active in Commercial Development, Construction, Planning and Litigation.

Insider’s Midlands Residential Property Awards showcase the best projects and developers across the Midlands.  The awards ceremony took place in Birmingham on 23 June 2022.
